BROADVIEW webapplication

for the analysis of complex issues

Changing the perspectives.

That is the basis of the BROADVIEW web application.

With this app, we work with the owners of a complex issue to visualize the system that is hidden behind the issue.

We use this to test the solutions and interventions that emerge as new possibilities.

5 STEPS

1. WHAT ARE WE LOOKING AT?

The specification of the issue: the current state of affairs, the risks, the dilemmas and circumstances.

We determine:

  • the scope, the scope of the analysis: how far do we look?
  • the focus of the analysis: what are we looking at? What is the central theme? What do we want to see decrease or increase?
  • the composition of the group of professionals who will participate in the analysis.

2. FILLING THE APPLICATION

Based on the chosen scope and focus, we retrieve information (digital and analog).

Based on this information, we determine the perspectives, a maximum of 9 basic areas, from which we will look at the issue in the analysis session.

For each basic area we choose a number of relevant aspects that could possibly play a role in the issue.

    3. REAL TIME ANALYSIS

We will work with the owners of the issue in a dialogue session of about 2 to 3 hours to explore the knowledge, opinions, thoughts and experiences surrounding the issue.

From the chosen basic areas, participants choose aspects and determine what positive or negative influence they have on the focus. The weight of this influence is also determined.

The participants then jointly establish (positive/negative) relationships between the chosen aspects.

    4. OVERVIEW, PERSPECTIVE, INSIGHT

Based on the information entered in the dialogue, the app produces an interactive animation. This shows the operation of the system underlying the issue: the aspects, the driving forces and the mutual connections.

By exerting force on certain aspects, you can see in real time how the system responds to changes and interventions.

The feedback from the system, the effects of choices and decisions are immediately visible in the animation.

    5. RESULTS & IMPLEMENTATION

We conclude the analysis by collecting insights and conclusions.

We translate these results into a short list with promising ideas, quick wins, but also with ‘knobs’ that can be turned to tackle the issue sustainably.

We complete the whole in a report, which contains targeted advice for an adaptive implementation, which ensures that new opportunities do not slip away or get bogged down in old patterns.
