Leergang Layers of reality

een 4 daags modulair programma

WHAT AND FOR WHOM?

In your profession, are you confronted with complex (strategic) issues, ‘wicked problems’, with complicated force fields and many (conflicting) interests? Then signing up for the LAYERS OF REALITY course is an excellent investment.

In this 4-day modular program you will be immersed in the wonderful world of system dynamics and neuro-biological principles.

We will work intensively on the theoretical basis and practical applications of systems thinking, system dynamics and divergent thinking, in combination with the possibilities and limitations of our physical brain.

Individual learning and development is central to working with various practical cases and simulations.  The course is intended for administrators, decision makers, but also implementers who are confronted with complex social, economic and political issues.

STRUCTURE

The training program consists of 4 day programs in combination with practical assignments, practical cases and in-depth literature. The 4 modules are spread over 5 months. Each module has a specific theme, in which theory and practice meet.

A brief overview.

1. ADAPTIVE SYSTEMS

In the 1st module we are intensively introduced to system dynamics. For a day, we dive deep into a simulation of a complex real-life situation. You are confronted in real time with various choices, dilemmas, issues and decision moments.

Individually and in consultation with your fellow participants, you will be challenged to use your skills, knowledge and experience to get the complex situation in the right direction.

At the end of the day you will have a good idea of the areas in which your performance can be further sharpened and developed in the coming training period.

2. SYSTEMS THINKING

The 2nd module focuses on systems thinking and system dynamics. With the help of these universal views it becomes possible to recognize the system operation in all areas of our daily existence.

Social, economic, societal, relational systems, parts of which we consciously experience, but also large parts of which we experience unconsciously. Aspects that we do not see, but that do have a significant influence on the decisions we make every day.

We train intensively with observation and intervention techniques, with Socratic and more provocative methods, from free association to applied creativity.  Everything aimed at penetrating an unprecedented situation as deeply as possible in a short time.

3. TO THE CORE

In the 3rd module we look at the core of how we look, decide and act. To get close to that, it is inevitable to pay full attention to the distraction strategies that we are used to using in everyday life. Where do they come from? What do they bring and take away from us?

In this context, we discuss in detail our brain functions and the (im)possibilities that our brain offers us.

We work with stimulating practical cases, which automatically reveal distractions, disruptions and interdependencies. And can be abandoned.

Get started with disruptive approaches, bias, limiting beliefs, methods, approaches that distract, get lost and deny!

4. TO DAILY PRACTICE

In this 4th module we collect individual and collective insights and conclusions. We do this by continuing the simulation from the 1st module.

We look back and the story continues. What do you see now, what appears to be different and how would you approach things now? In the remainder of the simulation, your new insights will be challenged and you will face dilemmas that require a keen application of systems thinking.

In this 4th module we conclude the course by determining the individual learning outcome in relation to the learning questions formulated in the 1st module.
